Editor's Note: In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year--so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around Chicago. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. --The Mgmt.

"Bad" is sort of the last word you'd ever expect to be associated with Floriole Cafe & Bakery—a place much more known for sugar, spice and everything nice in Lincoln Park. This is the home of some of the most meticulously prepared breads and pastries in the city, and if you don't believe me, just look at these croissants. Of course, B.A.D. ($6.75) actually stands for Bacon, Arugula, and almond Date spread on grilled yested corn bread. Oh, and there is some goat cheese in there, too.

That it all combines to make this satisfying sandwich isn't so surprising (this is Floriole, after all), but what makes the sandwich so bewildering is just how unexpected it all is. Sure, it's kind of a BLT variant, but when was the last time you had yested corn bread? What about almond date spread? It's the kind of sandwich that makes you wonder what other trouble Floriole can get in to.
