Though I've only been eating on Serious Eats's dime for the past month and a half (that's when the Chicago site launched), I was already on par to eat out more than any other year. It seemed like every day I read about some restaurant I absolutely had to check out, even if the picks were all over the place. Some weeks it was about a little taqueria with killer tripe tacos (La Chaparitta), while others it was a restaurant recreating fine dining in Paris circa 1906 (Next). Along the way I became obsessed with little pizzas, grilled chicken skewers, and glazed doughnuts.
It didn't matter where I looked in Chicago this year, I could always find something truly delicious. Check them out, then let me know what your favorite bites were.
