A Sandwich a Day: The Chicken Divine at Jubilee

The area around the intersection of Halsted and Randolph is home to some of Chicago's most noted restaurants. Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard's now famous Girl & the Goat is down the street, and renowned chef Grant Achatz's Next is just farther north. So for a sandwich shop to compete with such fine dining, it has to be top notch. And Jubilee is just that—a juice bar and sandwich grill that serves up some serious sandwiches in Chicago's West Loop.
The menu is pretty expansive, but I recommend the Chicken Divine ($8.50). Hunks of chicken breast are sautéed in a white wine sauce before being tossed together with caramelized onions, mushrooms and grilled bell peppers. Melted provolone cheese pulls everything together into one cheesy, gooey mess that makes it a challenge to eat, but no less delicious. (Pro tip: keep it wrapped in the aluminum foil for easy consumption.) The soft pita bread encases all the goods in a delectably fluffy wrap. And the smoothies aren't bad either.
