A wall of black and white photos, 65 cent cups of potato salad, a tiny seating area, and an Italian flag on the sign out front: Vinnie's takes pride in its status as a classic Italian sub shop. It's the kind of place that immediately makes you long for a gigantic sub and the feeling that you've been coming here for years. While it will take some time to fulfill the latter, you can satisfy that sub craving easily.

The turkey daily special ($6.75) comes on nine inches of fresh Italian bread and features a good inch of thinly sliced turkey breast, tomato, basil, and pesto mayo. It's that last condiment that turns this good turkey sub into a great one. The combination of the crackly, fresh bread, the saltiness of the turkey, and the cool creaminess of the pesto mayo make for one satisfying sandwich experience—an experience that is only enhanced by the familial atmosphere.

Perhaps the best part of this turkey sub? When I asked how often it was the daily special, the answer, delivered with a laugh and a wry smile, was "Always."
