As I noted in my neighborhood guide, Logan Square has surprisingly varied restaurant scene. Want a Michelin-starred meal in a saloon? Done. Tacos, skewered meat, and expertly prepared breakfast at anytime of the day? Done, done, and done. But what Logan Square didn't have was a great stand serving natural casing Vienna Beef hot dogs. Though there are some great spots in nearby hoods (including Hot Doug's and Redhot Ranch) this blind spot has been wearing on me. But it looks like I'm going to have to update the post.

Mr. G's opened in late December, and I'm happy to report that along with hand-cut fries, it serves natural casing hot dogs. I'm a little worried that the location is cursed (two restaurants have come and gone in the past year), and it is directly across the street from a McDonald's, but this has to be a positive development. It is a little too early to know whether Mr. G's Beef can keep up the quality, but it seems off to an excellent start.
