Although Estrella Negra's breakfast burritos were picked as Red Eye's Best Brunch Dish of 2009—at least, according to their menu—when the server recommends the tacos over a burrito, I have to take them up on their word. Stuffed with scrambled eggs, bits of bacon, cheddar cheese, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and a drizzle of sour cream, the El Soldado breakfast tacos ($6) perfectly showcased Estrella Negra's fresh Latin American cuisine.

They may not be reinventing the wheel with the flavor profile, but Estrella Negra does simple and classic so effortlessly that they don't need to try and impress their patrons with something outrageously modern and out-of-place. Besides the perfect balance of ingredients, the breakfast tacos were also not greasy in the slightest and the perfect size for brunch. Oh, and did I mention that Estrella Negra is BYOB as well? If that's not enough of a reason for me to come back and try the breakfast burrito next time, I don't what is.
