A Sandwich a Day: Amsterdam from Deli Boutique

Deli Boutique sets out to hold up its name's end of the deal: elevated freshly sliced deli meat sandwiches, paninis, and prepared salads, all thoughtfully named and presented in a trendy Lincoln Park storefront. Whether they succeed depends on your expectations. The Amsterdam ($6.95) features roast beef, caramelized onion, mushroom (which I declined), swiss cheese, mixed greens, and horseradish mayo on a demi baguette.

The beef, in keeping with most prepared deli roast beefs, lacked in texture and flavor, although a bit of salt added tableside helped. The other ingredients were right on, even if some more mayo would've better tied everything together. The biggest issue is that it felt like something I could've done better at home. Still, the portions and price were especially right for this part of town, and I can't help but feel that I may have misordered. Any Deli Boutique diehards out there willing to help me choose for next time?
