It may be called Rocky's Tacos, but this Roger Park joint is really a torta haven. I mean, where else in town will you face 78 uniquely named variations of the Mexican sandwich on a menu? There are so many options, it's hard to know where to begin.

I can't speak for the full menu, but I was very happy with the La A. Pavon ($5.50). Featuring crispy bits of grilled ribeye, soft roasted green peppers, melty cheese, along with the usual spread of avocado and crunchy lettuce, this is a sandwich all about texture. Of course, it helps that the beef is juicy and caramelized. But the real secret is probably the bread. It's thin, but strong enough to hold up to all the fillings. The only way to make this better is to add a few squirts of restaurant's very good tomatillo and red chile salsas.
