Behind the Sweets: Kymberli DeLost Constructs a Playground of Chocolate at Storefront Company
Here we are again. It's that wonderful time of year when we gather around the people we love, forget about calorie counting, and eat our weight in chocolate. Yes, it's Chicago Chocolate Week. Oh, you hadn't heard? Let me fill you in so you can forget about that all of that subpar chocolate you ate during Halloween season and focus on the fantastic and imaginative chocolate creations coming out of some of the best kitchens in Chicago.
As part of the Chicago Chocolate Festival taking place at Navy Pier this weekend, Chicago Chocolate Week has gathered restaurants across the city in a celebration of chocolate that started yesterday and runs through Sunday, November 18th. Each restaurant has created a special chocolate-centric dessert and all are donating 10% of the proceeds from each dessert to Share Our Strength, an organization working to end childhood hunger. So I mean it when I say it's for the good of the children that you go out and eat at as many of the participating restaurants as possible this week.

Chef Bryan Moscatello and Pastry Chef Kymberli DeLost recently allowed me a peek into Storefront's fascinating kitchen. Their dessert includes no less than seven different iterations of chocolate, and Chef Kymberli was kind enough to demonstrate all of the work behind this complex and delicious dessert.
