Between the housemade charcuterie and other fried delights, you can't blame me for never sticking around for dessert at Old Town Social. I have to draw the line somewhere. But after trying the warm doughnuts, I'll have to remember to always save a little room.
As the name suggests, these two doughnuts arrive piping hot from the fryer. Most dramatically, they also come with their fried holes placed back on top, which is a nice touch. Since they are sprinkled with cinnamon sugar instead of drenched in a glaze, they aren't weighed down with a sticky sweetness. In fact, these are just about the airiest doughnuts I've ever encountered. Of course, if you're missing the sugar shock, a coffee-rum mascarpone sabayon is served on the side for dipping.
