Mon Ami Gabi's Fifteenth Birthday
To say "Merci" to guests for making fifteen years possible, anyone who dines at Mon Ami Gabi this Thursday will receive a $15 gift card for a future visit and a surprise dessert. TechWeek Food Truck Face Off
Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Twelve of Chicago's best food trucks will gather at the Merchandise Mart on Friday evening and offer $2 bites. Trucks include 5411 Empanadas, Brand BBQ, IceCubed, and Beavers Coffee + Donuts. Steve Dolinsky, Ryan Poli, and Phillip Foss will be judging, but attendees can vote for the "People's Truck" award using the Techweek app. Free. South Drive of the Merchandise Mart; event website

Milwaukee Avenue Arts Fest
Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, noon to 10:00 p.m.
There's no disputing that Logan Square is one of the best neighborhoods for dining in Chicago, and this weekend long event features some of the area's best restaurants. Let's Get Canned: A Homey History of Preserving at Kendall College

Culinary Historians of Chicago is hosting this book discussion and signing with Sherry Brooks Vinton, the author of Put 'Em Up! Fruit. Learn about the history of canning, and pick up tips on how to get started or improve your own food preservation practice. $5. 900 N. North Branch Street; event website

Starving Artist 2013
Saturday, 7:00 p.m.
Five teams of artists and chefs will collaborate for artistic and edible installations in this benefit for Chicago Artists' Coalition. This year's chefs are Abraham Conlon of Fat Rice; Bill Kim of BellyQ, Urban Belly, and Belly Shack; Chrissy Camba of Bar Pastoral; Erick Williams of MK; Fabio Viviano of Siena Tavern (and Top Chef); and Jared Wentworth of Longman and Eagle. The event also features cocktails crafted by Benjamin Newby of Hennessey Black, as well as a taco battle between Big Star and Antique Taco. $125. 217 N. Carpenter; event website


Windy City Smokeout

Bub City is hosting this inaugural bbq and country music fest, and tickets are available now. Some of Chicago's best barbecue joints, including Smoque and Lillie's Q, are participating, along with nationally acclaimed smoked meats from The Salt Lick and Myron Mixon. $60 for 3-day pass or $30 per day. Rockin' Lobster Bash
July 15
Tickets went on sale this week for WXRT and Supreme Lobster's summer celebration at Three Aces. The lobster tasting menu includes courses by Giuseppe Tentori, Paul Virant, Matt Troost, Ryan McCaskey, Phillip Foss, Ryan Poli, Mark Steuer, Doug Psaltis, and Thai Dang.
