Oak Park Micro Brew Review
Saturday, 3 to 7 p.m.
This sixth annual festival, brought to you by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, will offer over 120 different beers from 60 craft breweries. Proceeds benefit Seven Generations Ahead's non-profit work to build sustainable Midwestern communities. Local, organic food tastings will also be available. $45-100. Cooking Demo with Bill Kim

Chef Bill Kim is hosting a cooking demonstration and Korean BBQ lunch at bellyQ. The menu includes watermelon salad, Korean BBQ short rib, kimchi, and passion fruit margaritas. $50. 1400 W. Randolph; event website

Chicago Air and Water Show Party at Oak Street Beach
Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

City Swarm Ice Cream Crawl
Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.
Celebrate summer with this five-stop ice cream crawl, which includes private trolley transportation and kitchen tours. Sample some of the city's best frozen treats at Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream Truck, George's Ice Cream & Sweets, Black Dog Gelato, Miko's Italian Ice, and bellyQ. Restaurant Crawl of Albany Park and North Park
Tuesday, 5 to 9 p.m.
Over fifteen restaurants are taking part in the 2013 restaurant crawl, sponsored by Swedish Covenant Hospital. Sample delicious fare from Semiramis, Noon O Kabob, 2 Asian Brothers, and Jaafer Sweets, among other local favorites. $45. 4736 N. Kedzie; event website


Bacon Takedown
September 14
The 4th Annual Bacon Takedown has issued a call for twenty home cooks to participate in the event. Selected cooks will be given 15 pounds of Hormel Black Label Bacon to work with. Seasonal Soul Food: A Celebration of Chef Edna Lewis
Saturday, October 5, 6 p.m.
The culinary team at Inspiration Kitchen is preparing a four-course menu based on the recipes of Chef Edna Lewis. Readings from Lewis's cookbook will also be paired with jazz violin music. The event benefits The Sugar Beet Co-op of Oak Park. $100. 3504 W. Lake Street; event website
