Rooting Symposium Dinner at Iron Street Urban Farm
October 12 at 6 p.m.
Okay, this one takes some explaining: Akshay Raj Singh Rathore and Ravi Agarwal are teaming up with Collective Cleaners, a local artist collaborative (read more here) to host an event to "engage the diners visually and conceptually with ideas of tradition and innovation in the urban landscape." In other words, chefs including Scott Manley (Table, Donkey, and Stick), Mike Sheerin (Parson's Chicken and Fish), Michelle Garcia (Lucha Dolce), and chef Jyoti Lazzaro, will be cooking with produce from Iron Street Urban Farm. We are officially intrigued. $50. 3333 S. Iron St.; event website

Goat Beards & Oath Beers at Parson's Chicken & Fish
Sunday, 2 to 6 p.m.
To celebrate the closing of its outdoor patio, Parson's is hosting a party this Sunday in the afternoon. Along with being the last time for you to play ping pong outdoors this year, Chef Hunter Moore will be roasting goats on the restaurant's outdoor spit. Solemn Oath Brewery will offer beer pairings, and apparently there will be a "new limited edition coozie." Free. 2952 W. Armitage Ave; event website
