To kick-off the celebrations for the upcoming Chicago Fine Chocolate & Dessert Show, Storefront Company hosted a collaborative dinner with six of the best pastry chefs in town. Each pastry chef created a course; often the riff was on a course that is currently on their menu.
As a dessert fanatic, six courses of sweets sounded heavenly. Aside from a few passed savory bites to begin the evening, this was a dessert marathon. Many fall fruits and vegetables made an appearance, including apples, pears, grapes, and pumpkin. Several of the desserts also had a strong chocolate component—after all, this is a preview of the Chicago Fine Chocolate Show. All were very tasty and well-composed, but also incredibly rich. I definitely don't want to make a habit of this. At the end of the night, pizza or fried chicken sounded perfect.
To lull yourself into a similar sugar coma, you can visit the Chicago Fine Chocolate & Dessert Show this weekend at Navy Pier. Event information, including tickets and hours, is available here.
