A Sandwich a Day: Cajun Catfish Pita at Cooking Fools

Cooking Fools is a little spot on North Avenue in Bucktown where people can take cooking classes or throw get-togethers. Nothing screams parties like julienning a few carrots, right? But when you step in, the first thing you'll see is the refrigerated take-out case where you can pick up some pre-made food.

Cooking Fools has sandwiches, wraps, soups, and salads if you're looking for a quick meal. The cajun catfish pita ($7) is one of them—and even if you don't like the muddy taste of catfish all that much, it's a good pick. The catfish filet is generous, meaty, and well seasoned. The mixed greens and tomatoes give the pita a lively fresh tone, and the mayo-based remoulade brings the little kit together. The best part is that it's not heavy; after you're done eating, you won't feel an ounce of post-meal regret.
