I'm not sure what is more hilarious: the fact that The Athenian Room has something called a vegetarian salad ($7.00) on its menu, or that the salad in question arrives topped with a whole bunch of thick cut fries. I know this: it shouldn't work.

Walking around DePaul University's campus, it's possible for a few moments to feel completely separated from the city, which is an impressive feat for a college plopped down right in the middle of Lincoln Park. But the city is always there if you need it, especially when it is time to eat.
Though not nearly as ubiquitous as a gyros, grilled chicken on a pita is a standard menu item at loads of restaurants in Chicago. But whereas I've come to appreciate the mass-produced meat on occasion, grilled chicken never works. Except, that is, at The Athenian Room.
