Usually when I'm in an Italian deli like Sacco Bruno, I always spring for the Italian sub—a Chicago original featuring loads of cured meats and giardiniera. But sometimes I don't feel like something so overwhelming, and the Hot Press ($5.00) is ideal for the occasion. Featuring just a couple of ingredients on a small bun, it makes for a light lunch when you need one most.
I'm especially fond of the prosciutto and fresh mozzarella variation. The creamy cheese helps balance the salty pork, and the bread is just crisp enough not to get int the way too much. And that's it. No extravagant toppings or soppy vegetables.
