Located in the southeast edge of Logan Square (there's a second spot in Roscoe Village), 90 Miles Cuban boasts authentic cuisine from the island that's, you guessed it, 90 miles away from Florida's southern tip. Think pulled pork, steak strips, piles of black beans, and citrus tangy citrus sauces heaped on everything.
That all comes together in 90 Miles' Lechon sandwich ($6.25)—pulled pork, romaine lettuce, grilled onions and caramelized plantains between two thick slices of sweet bread. The restaurant throws down an ample slab of pork that's fall-off-the-bone tender and marinated in a sauce that's part salty, part citrusy. A heap of onions lingers for hours after the sandwich is gone, but it's well worth every bite. And sweet plantains are perfectly contrasted by the savory pork. Qué rico!
