Slurping Turtle has a long list of items cooked on its bincho grill, everything from this tender squid to pork belly to chicken livers.
Japanese izakaya (pubs) are known to skewer and grill practically every part of the chicken, including the liver. Made right, they'll melt in your mouth. Slurping Turtle is making them right.
Octopus Salad ($11)
Generous portions of baby cucumber, tomato and octopus are topped with delicate tosaka seaweed and tobanjian dressing. The dressing is one of Yagihashi's great inventions - big on toasted sesame and other Asian flavors. Good thing slurping is condoned.
Duck Fat Fried Chicken ($7)
Did I mention Yagihashi knows his way around a chicken? Here we have boneless chunks of chicken, fried to a choice crisp in duck fat.
Tori Ramen ($13)
Last but not least in the least, the Tori (chicken) Ramen. Here's the lineup: housemade egg noodles, grilled organic chicken, a soft poached egg, bok choy and snow peas. In other words, a bowlful of love.
Slurping Turtle's all-window facade displays the restaurant's interesting cubby booth seating on the ground and lofted second floor.
