Almost exactly halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee might not be the first place that jumps to mind as a seafood destination or a likely spot to find one of the best po' boys in the greater Chicago area. That said, and I think you can guess where this is going, Captain Porky's defies those expectations.

This place takes their po' boys seriously, starting with the housemade bread that is soft and airy with a slightly crusty exterior. I opted for the walleye po' boy ($8), which came with a generous supply of some very fresh fish surrounded by a crisp, almost crunchy batter that was well-seasoned and just greasy enough to make me smile. I do have to admit, much as I liked this sandwich, if you can only pick one, go with the shrimp po' boy. The fried shrimp at Captain Porky's are easily among the top handful in Chicagoland.
