Gapers Block, the very popular Chicago-centric blog, threw its first annual barbecue contest this past Saturday. Believe me, there's nothing like a barbecue competition on a Saturday afternoon to keep things delicious and interesting. It was hosted at Bucktown restaurant Club Lucky, and it featured six other local barbecue restaurants: Honey 1 BBQ, Rub BBQ Company, Pork Shoppe, Honky Tonk BBQ, The Piggery, Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro.
Each guest cast a vote for the Peoples Pick, while a group of judges—including Chuck Sudo (editor-in-chief of Chicagoist), John Fritchey (12th District Commissioner), Erin Shovlin (Weber Grill catering director), and Moshe Tamssot (CookItFor.Us CEO)—crowned the Critics' Pick.
