In most circumstances, if a restaurant pulls a bait-and-switch on me, heads are going to roll. Well, it's actually more likely that I'll smile and take it while plotting violent revenge, but that's just a personal problem I have. But when I got something vastly different from what I expected after ordering the Egg Sandwich ($13) at Jam in Logan Square, I was actually a pretty happy camper.
As you can see from the picture, this "egg sandwich" is primarily a mountain of really moist pulled pork topped with a couple of lightly cooked over-easy eggs, a nice touch that makes the sandwich appropriate for brunch. The proteins get some flavor help from the ricotta salata and plum preserve spread across the bolo roll. And just in case that's not enough, the side of nicely roasted fingerling potatoes will definitely keep you full until dinner.
