Although Dunlays on the Square isn't a new member of Logan Square's food community, there are still some great standbys on their menu that make it worth checking back in every now and again. Case in point: during the busy weekend brunch, once you get past the strollers and long waits, you can get the fried egg sandwich ($9.50).
The sandwich consists of two eggs over easy, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. Once you take a bite and the egg yolk breaks, it can be a tad messy. Fortunately, the ingredients complement each other so well that the messiness is easy to ignore. The thick-cut bacon provides a nice crunch to the soft eggs and shredded cheddar cheese. The tomato, lettuce, and bacon combination make the sandwich reminiscent of a BLT. It may not be a secret spot, but there's a reason that people still flock to Dunlays every Sunday for brunch.
