Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
Before last week, if anyone asked me where to eat before a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, I would have shrugged my shoulders and offered this cop out: eat before you go, or suck it up and order an expensive dog at the ballpark. Sure, a great number of sports bars surround the friendly confines, some of which are absolutely perfect places to grab a beer. But as far as truly satisfying cuisine, don't get your hopes up. Or, at least, that's what I thought.
I was wrong. As I walked around Wrigleyville over the past couple of weeks, I uncovered a staggering number of options. The revelation shouldn't have been that big of a surprise, since Wrigley Field is in Lakeview, the second most populous neighborhood in the city. In fact, many of these places I already knew about; I just didn't realize they were so close. From burgers to Thai beef salads, vegetarian diner food to Roman-style pizza, the options go on and on. I had to start excluding places.
To keep this somewhat practical, I limited the search to options within a mile, with most of these much closer. When you walk off the Addison Red Line, you can still grab a meal quickly. Actually, a shocking number can be found within a block or two of the field.
Over the past few years, Wrigley Field has bumped up its concessions, and someone will report back on those findings shortly. But here are the many restaurants you can visit before the game. Did we forget your favorite stop? Let us know in the comments.
