Unlike any new restaurant along Randolph Street, Eggy's Diner did not broadcast its presence when it opened a few months ago. Nestled along the park behind the Blue Cross Blue Shield building in Lakeshore East, you may have to get close via GPS and then ask one or five people in the area where it is. But if you're determined to get a solid breakfast sandwich, this is the place to do it.

So does the namesake Breakfast Sandwich ($9.50) stand up to its weighty moniker? Well, this sandwich's egginess is certainly undeniable. It shows up in the fresh sponginess of the bun and oozes out of the perfectly cooked over easy egg in the middle. Bacon is a standard ingredient in any good breakfast sandwich, but the tart red onion jam and creamy herb aioli make this sandwich memorable.
