Sandwiches

Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.

Though they are both owned by P. F. Chang's China Bistro, Pei Wei Asian Market isn't exactly the same as Pei Wei Asian Diner. The former has a shorter and more focused menu, with a bigger emphasis on street food and sandwiches. But it's still going for Pan-Asian, and the four sandwiches on the menu happen to draw inspiration from Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and China. This scattershot approach usually means that nothing is done particularly well, and there's no doubt that the meat in the Korean Grilled Steak Sandwich ($6.95) wouldn't stand up to the average Korean barbecue joint in town. But if you're looking for a sandwich that balances sweet and spicy well, and need it served up quickly during your lunch break in Streeterville, it manages to get the job done.
