If our countdown of warming soups wasn't enough to get you in the fall mood, how about a Halloween post? Yes, the holiday is only two weeks away, which means you need to start thinking about that costume and what party you're going to attend. If you like a little food with your candy and spiked cider (that is what you're having, right?), then definitely check out the Halloween Harvest Ball on October 28 at the Ravenswood Event Center.
Sponsored by the Green City Market Junior Board, the event features a genuinely impressive collection of chefs, including Mark Mendez (Vera), Matthias Merges (Yusho), Ryan Poli (Tavernita), Mike and Pat Sheerin (Trenchermen), Jared Van Camp (Nellcôte and Old Town Social), Jared Wentworth (Longman & Eagle), Andrew Zimmerman (Sepia), John Manion (La Sirena Clandestina), Eric Mansavage (Farmhouse), and Christine Cikowski and Joshua Kulp (Sunday Dinner). That doesn't even count the pastry chefs and mixologists that will also be on hand. (So yes, there will be desserts and booze, too.)
Tickets are available for $75, which you can purchase by clicking here. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit Green City Market's Link card program and other initiatives which educate shoppers on local, seasonal eating.
