Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
I'll first say, with the word vindaloo in the title I expected this sandwich to have curry flavor in it, but it doesn't. And that's ok, because the vindaloo chicken naan-wich ($15) at Aria holds its own as is.
To make this one, they stuff chicken, bacon, smoked gouda, arugula, and tomato jam into a soft but dense pita, which holds together well. The combination of sweet tomato jam and salty bacon absolutely makes this sandwich—I wouldn't mind eating the two every single day. Overall, there's a great balance of sturdy chicken slices, crunchy bacon, sweet tomato jam, a hint of vegetable with the greens, and the smoked gouda blends it all together with a creamy hug so none of it falls apart.
It also comes with two great sides: poppadum chips and an arugula salad. The chips are light but still a bit greasy, and go well with the sauces brought with naan when you sit down. I only wish there were more of those.
