Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
I ordered this expecting Thanksgiving in a sandwich. I think I just saw turkey and cranberry (mayo) together and my eyes glazed over thinking about one of my favorite holidays and the feast that comes with it. Anyway, Thanksgiving in a sandwich wasn't what I got, but the turkey twist ($8) from The Goddess and Grocer was great nonetheless.
This sandwich was sweeter and had stronger flavors than the savory turkey celebration I thought was going into my mouth. The caramelized onions and swiss cheese had a lot to do with that, but it was really the cranberry element that changed things up. It is so creamy it reminds me of a flavored cream cheese, but not in a bad way. This is probably why my holiday fantasies didn't pan out. If straight cranberry spread had topped the turkey, it would have been far different, and I think I would have liked it less.
One important thing they did with this sandwich is that they didn't skimp on the turkey. To me there's nothing worse than when you get two slices of thin meat, but here you get a heaping amount.
