Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
My first reaction to the turkey reuben ($10.99) at Frances' Deli was: "This is what my reuben dreams are made of!" I like turkey more than corned beef, cole slaw more than sauerkraut, and... wait, this isn't a reuben at all! It has Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing on it. This sandwich is its own thing entirely.
Served on grilled challah that's almost as thick as Texas toast, this is an incredibly creamy sandwich. With the combo of cheese, dressing, and coleslaw, it creates something that reminds me of the "special sauce" at a lot of burger joints (like at In N' Out). It's huge, but doesn't taste heavy.
Essentially it's everything I want in a sandwich, since the sauces both drew me in and won me over, and the bread was substantial enough to hold it all in.
