Eat This Now: Carne Asada Burrito with Poblano Rajas at L'Patron

If there's one place that's instilling a modicum of restraint into the Chicago burrito experience, it's L'Patron in Logan Square. Come here for gut-busting burritos as big as your head and you'll leave disappointed; though by all means filling, you certainly won't be rethinking your life choices on a grand scale after one, either.
But say you did want to push the envelope a bit... Though in a vision, I recently had the brilliant idea to combine L'Patron's perfect steak with their poblano rajas into a super burrito greater than the sum of its parts. Order it, uninspiredly, as a Carne Asada Burrito with Poblano Rajas ($5.49). Along with steak and the standard lettuce, tomato, sour cream, refried beans, and avocado, your burrito's seams will sag with the addition of roasted poblano peppers, caramelized onions, and a roasted tomato cheese sauce. The toothsome, spicy slivers of pepper are a nice offset to the chewy, charred steak, and the whole thing still feels vaguely restrained in spite of itself.
