Chicago's Michelin Madness Begins with Bib Gourmand Winners

Are you all ready for another round of Michelin madness? It will be next week before the coveted stars are officially released, but until then you can make due with the list of Bib Gourmand winners. This list highlights restaurants that are considered a "good value," which roughly translates to "two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less."

The biggest news this year is that 21 restaurants made the list for the first time. A good deal of these are new openings, like Fat Rice, Juno, and Mott St—all great picks, in my opinion. But a fair number of these "newcomers" have actually been open for awhile, including Lula Cafe, Arami, and Hopleaf. Interestingly, all three were included two years ago, didn't make the cut last year, and are now back.

16 restaurants also got the boot, including The Bristol, which seems a bit odd to me. Perhaps its making the leap to star status? Of course, my two guesses last year for imminent star status (Lula Cafe and Perennial Virant) didn't pan out, so perhaps I'm not the right person to talk about this.
